A couple of weeks back, while in Washington, DC, over a few days of great weather,
Jim Jones, Director of Public Affairs and I met with Alfred Campos, Lobbyist,
Federal Advocacy Government Relations for the National Education Association
(NEA).
We spent most of our time over lunch discussing H.R. 2592
and the positive tax treatment that would accrue to small businesses when they
donate inventory to charitable organizations.
We also discussed the anticipated increase in the volume of free
products that would become available to charities, schools and churches if the
bill were passed.
Al said he’d study the bill in order to determine whether
this legislation would be something that the NEA would get behind. He seemed genuinely interested in the
potential benefits on the national level - to schools and to the NEA’s
constituents; teachers and school administrators.
Help us to get the word out on the bill! Contact your Representatives on Capitol Hill. Go to www.popvox.com. Registration is quick and easy. Type in H.R. 2592 in the box on the upper right hand corner. On the next webpage, please click "Support" and ask everyone you know to do the same.
If you're a business and would like to donate to NAEIR, or if you're a nonprofit, school or church and would like to learn more about the benefits of joining, please give us a call at (800)-562-0955.
